Timber Venetains made a huge splash on the market in the mid 90’s and everyone wanted the real wood look. That meant ceder look wood slats making up the blind. These days the trend has been solidly towards the whiter tones, perhaps inspired by the massive shift towards shutters which are predominantly white. As such, having actual wood in your Venetian blind has become less important. Enter Faux wood Venetian blinds.

Faux Wood Venetains are about half the price of shutters and give back far more of your window to the actual view. Due to structural limitations, shutters are limited to the width they can span without having more than a single shutter per window. This results is in much of the window being covered by the supporting members of the multiple shutters obscuring the otherwise clear view through. For example, in the picture above, the equivalent in Shutters would require 3 separate shutters to span the same width.

Another advantage over shutters is the fact that you can operate the entire blind with pulling a single cord. For a similar width window as that pictured above, you may have to operate up to 6 different shutters individually to open or close the same area of window. The advantage being that you have that flexibility.
